SynergyRED
Synergy Renewable Energy Developments, known as SynergyRED, is the subsidiary of Synergy responsible for delivering a range of renewable energy assets including wind and large-scale battery storage projects to support the Western Australia's decarbonisation strategy to be delivered by 2030.
SynergyRED has delivered renewable projects for Synergy and Bright Energy Investments (BEI) including the Warradarge Wind Farm and Greenough River Solar Farm expansion.
WA’s energy system is changing
Synergy is exploring, scoping, developing and, in some cases, expanding a range of solar and wind powered generation assets and large-scale battery storage projects. The State Government allocated $3 billion for Synergy to assist in the decarbonisation of WA’s energy industry.
In June 2022, the State Government announced the Collie Power Station is set to be retired in late 2027, with Muja D is set to be retired in late 2029. These closures represent a removal of 1,127MW of traditional electricity generation capacity in the SWIS (South West Interconnected System).
Synergy plans to deliver at least 410MW of new renewable generation capacity and 4.4GWh of energy storage infrastructure to help support WA's transition to more renewables. SynergyRED will develop these assets and infrastructure with the support of the wider Synergy business and energy experts in Western Australia and nationally to identify other renewable energy opportunities.
